Miscellany

Failed to henna my hair last night; will do it this evening instead. I did have a lovely visit with [livejournal.com profile] justinep, which was good.

Not coming to the Pembury this evening as I have an audition tomorrow and need to have an early night. I think in general I need to do some scaling back of my social activities if I am going to keep on top of things.

Tomatoes are doing nicely, and the aubergine plant is actually making aubergines. Lots of physalis ripe now. Peppers not good at all this year, I guess they need more sun/heat/whatever. Butternut squash also disappointing, though I guess there's time yet.

Got my second received, and last-in-the-subscription, issue of MAKE today. It has been nice to have but I think it will not go back onto the wishlist, because the delivery is unreliable. I've only had two out of the four issues I should have had, and that's just not on.

I'd best eat some of those tomatoes and make a PLN for the day.

Do you grow your fruit and veg in containers? If yes, any chance of a list of what you grow and some basic tips on how to do it? I'm moving into a house with a lovely back yard/stone garden, and I would like to add some container plants that are both pretty to look at and at least partially useful.

(Much like some people get a fish before they're allowed a cat or dog, and a cat or dog before they're allowed kids, I'd like to grow stuff in containers before I get an allotment and have an allotment before I eventually retire to a farm. :-)

ah, one day we'll all retire to farms. I want some sheep, goats, maybe a cow, chickens, DOGS, and cats.

Heh. I want all of the above too. My boyfriend has just talked me into getting huskies if we ever do have a farm ;-)

And sheep. So I can make my own wool. And make socks and jumpers out of it! :-)

I think the operative bit is 'scaling back' ie. not abandoning alltogether 'cos no social activities = as damaging as too many social activities.

Did you contact MAKE about the subscription issues? That does seem off to me...
