Good morning!

I am visiting [livejournal.com profile] flannelcat and [livejournal.com profile] penguin_worship. Their cat is lovely, and came and woke me with purring and snuggles this morning, and sat on me for long bits of last night, and I want a cat soo so much but will have to make do with visiting other people's cats instead for the time being. Yay for quality time with good people, good cats and the internet.

Academic

Nope, not doing that today. So there. But I'm thinking about finding some music pretty soon. I have lists of stuff written down in various places and really need to get hold of the music. I also have a copy of an original Brahms manuscript, for the horn trio... it doesn't belong to me, it belongs to my horn teacher. I borrowed it and promised to scan it in and write the scans to a CD for him; I haven't done it yet. I need to do it soon. [livejournal.com profile] horngirl, I'm sure he'd be happy for you to have a copy as well.

Also thinking I really need to write up more of the Mammoth Project.

I also need to do some serious schedule planning, as my academic schedule is not properly joined up with my real life schedule yet.

Creative

I have a definite order in for a pair of wings for Dark Masquerade. If anyone else wants wings for this, you must let me know by the end of November. No two pairs alike! Basic price is £60/pair, but could be more or less depending on size, complexity and fiddliness. Also I can do matching hairfalls.

I made a pair of slippers last night. They are warm and snuggly and toasty. Yay! The cat helped.

Speshul Sekr1t Project goes well - [livejournal.com profile] flannelcat and I are very much thinking on the same page. YAY!

Planning

-a nice walk to look for materials for the Speshul Sekr1t Project
-movies with friends in Lodnon later
-a reasonably early night, because I'm teaching tomorrow.

Today's theme: Socks! There's Sock Dreams, which [livejournal.com profile] rosefox mentioned. I'm impressed by their range of over-the-knee socks, including some extra-long ones that might actually fit me! I'll be visiting this site again when finances allow. And I like that they also sell sock garters.

I'm also very much intersted in luxury socks. These mohair ones are gorgeous-looking and come in nice colours and lengths. Cashmere is nice, too. And I'd love to try Socks with possumdown in them. I'm not kidding. Go look for yourself.

Looking for something more enduring than fashion socks, but don't have the time or inclination to knit or crochet your own? There are socks that are Almost Unwearoutable. Your best bet is to find you nearest convenient knitting freak and ask them for some socks, though.

If you don't have time for socks and wear the same ones all the time, why not subscribe? Typing 'subscription socks' into Google will bring a wealth of sock options to your monitor. I rather like the idea of buying basic socks on subscription; I should have a think about what other bits of my shopping I could automate in that way.

We could so convince Jui-Chu.

The market stall in Cambridge used to have fantastic big cotton socks. I gave up darning my last lot this year and laid them to rest as cushion stuffing, so I need to do more. My life is too busy to knit socks with, really; if I put them on the handicrafts list I'll be waiting for two years to get them!

How many spider plants would you like, whenever I finally bring them? I'm going to pot some up soon from the plant that's taking over the world.

Depends how many are going, but two or three would be nice.

Haven't divided chives yet and not sure if I can now it's colder. Grah. But I can probably wossname foo. Get some seeds from the wild garlic/chinese chive-y things in the front garden easily enough.

I generally crochet socks rather than knitting them as it is easier to make heels that can be taken out for repair later. Also you only need one stick.

I like sock dreams and have ordered from them several times :) Recent purchases: OTK stripey socks (so many colors!) and wool knee socks.

Ok, I will give you three, and the others can go to work to absorb some of the smell there. I have between 5 and 10 depending on what the other bits of that plant do when. Thanks!

Hmmmm... This all sounds like a recipe for conspicuously odd socks, rather than the mildly-mismatched black cotton toenail-catchers I wear to work every day.

Hmm - I am in the market for some new slippers! If you are skilled in such matters, my idea was fleece made from recycled plastic, formed into soft slipper-sock-boot things with some kind of sole (like MEC sell)?
