osteopathy
Jan. 24th, 2007 08:49 pmHad a brief chat with the osteopath today before treatment; she asked me how some of my symptoms were doing. She also took my blood pressure (120/65 which seemed odd as it's usually 120/80, but then I'm usually at the GP and sitting up when it gets taken, not lying down) and listened to my heart, since the previous week I'd mentioned the slight heart murmur that I have. Also lots of testing with a pin to see if I had numb bits on my legs, which I don't, though my right leg is more sensitive than my left. They're very thorough. This is good.
There was another student observing today, who also commented on the hypermobility of my joints. Also a different tutor than last time (because the other one was away), he seemed nice enough. So, it looks so far like I have hypermobile joints due to ligament (but not muscle) laxity, and this is part of why my back goes out so easily. We'll see how treatment for that goes and if there isn't a response, try a different diagnosis.
Then some stretchy bits, some turning-about of legs to see when it hurt, and lots more stretchiness and some muscle massage, particularly of my left quadricep. When I sat up again my left shoulder was a bit odd but it settled after 3 or 4 minutes. Even this evening my left quad feels much different to me than my right.
After the appointment, I had a half hour of walking around without any pain at all. This pleases me greatly. After that my lower back started to hurt again; but it's a start.
