rant

This should not be a big deal, but it would be nice if someone else took the bin out for once. Bin men have just been and gone and the bin wasn't out. If I forget nobody else remembers. I have three other people living here and none of them are sufficiently aware of Tuesday being the day before Bin Day to bother with it. This is ridiculous. It is not that hard, or I wouldn't be able to do it most weeks.

Disclaimer: haven't have breakfast yet, perspective is VERY broken.

Stick a big sign on the door saying 'Wednesday is Bin Day!'?

I have four housemates. Yesterday for the first time someone other than me remembered. Yay for Paul!

7 flatmates is fun. none of the men seem to notice the bin, except the one who is in his 30s!

Oh, I know what you mean about housemates.

I really hate it when my housemate piles all her dirty dishes in the washing up bowl, thereby rendering it unusable. Which is mildly annoying since the house rule is to do your own dishes quickly and I really don't see why I should deal with her dishes, which by then are normally wedged tightly together in cold, disgusting water

Normally I'd just talk to her about this, since I didn't realise that the proper method to deal with such things is to post about them on LiveJournal in a somewhat passive-aggressive manner.

I live in a house with two other people and as far as I can remember they have put the bin out twice in nearly three years. As to breakfast I overslept and I am just eating some noodles so I am all too familiar with how you must feel atm.

Posting on LifeJournal only works if said housemates alsop read this.

/me scratches his head.... I am over 30 and I am the only one who puts out the bin in our house. Coincidence?

ah no coincidence, women are simply more mature from earlier on. :p

come to think of it, women are BORN more mature than men, and men never get time to catch up! :PP

Everyone's the one person in the house who does anything. Or all the vocal ones are. I'm the only person who's ever touched a toilet brush in my place, or cleaned cat litter, or changed bin liners... etc. Coffee will fix it.

but of course! where would the fun be otherwise? :)

It takes maybe 30 seconds to take soaking dishes out of the washing up bowl. I do try not to leave things to soak too often, because I am aware that it is annoying. I am also not the only person who leaves things to soak. I have to do this regularly when other people have left things to soak.

It takes another week for the bin men to come again, by which time the bin will be overflowing.

I'm not going to get any further into a tit-for-tat discussion of things that annoy me, because it will go nowhere. None of us are perfect and all of us do things (or neglect to do things) and end up annoying other people.

I'm sorry if I came across as passive-agressive. I probably shouldn't have made the post. I did put a disclaimer - not having had breakfast yet and hearing the bin truck go and running outside in an attempt to get the bin out on time, only to see them turning the corner around the end of the street, isn't the best start to anyone's morning. It wasn't meant as an attack on anyone in particular, it was just frustration, pure and simple.

I will admit that I am not usually the one to worry about bin day here - but, when my parents are away, if I don't remember, my brother definitely won't bother doing it. So, I do know how you feel.. though I am often guilty of not doing it myself.

What annoys me more is when people can't do their dishes up reasonably, or at least do them up before they start to grow things, or before other people are coming over. Or by the end of that same day, so I don't have to come down the next morning to see them.

Oh my. I'd better shush myself... I feel a rant coming on. LOL
