Oh, COOL. Build your own mp3 player!

No I'm not a geek honest.

Yeah, I like the sound of one of those - I've not played with a soldering iron for years. But money and not necessary and stuff.

Oooh, I was expecting to see a different one! The only home-build mp3 player I've seen about so far has been the Minty Mp3 player (http://www.ladyada.net/make/minty/).

The minty seems more complex, possibly due to the USB interface. Doesn't have a screen though. Those 3310 screens are getting pretty popular for the hobiest it seems. So far that's mp3 players, Linksys routers, and homebrew GPS devices they've been hacked onto.

I looked at the link, I looked at all the bits and then thought nope I will buy one.
The poggle knows her limitations. lol
I can wire a plug, change a fuse wire and replace a light fitting but that is about it. :)

There are lots of people who can't wire a plug or change a fuse wire, and light fittings are right out.

I couldn't wire a plug when I moved here; I only learned when I got handed a box of unwired plugs and some screwdrivers and had to teach several Cub Scouts how to do it. I understand the principles of fuses and could probably change a fuse wire, but I have circuit breakers here so I don't have to, yay.

I think I could probably change a light fitting, but I'd need instructions.

Ooh. That's a pretty nice design, and a very reasonably priced kit. I love the way they used a Nokia 3310 screen.

I think the only reason I learned how to do the electrics I did, was being a single mum and having no one to do it for me.
