Went for a walk in Mudchute Park and Farm this afternoon. Cherries are nearly ready I think; there were some ripe ones but they were too high for me to reach even with a brolly. Saskatoons starting to turn, I'll have to watch those. I found two hawthorn trees with rather large haws (at least compared to others this time of year; and the leaves look similar to the jumbo hawthorn I found last autumn in Hendon Park, which unfortunately weren't doing too well), a beech tree heavy with things-that-will-be-beechmast-soon, and two promising-looking walnut trees, all spitting distance from the house in that little bit of park with the playground in. This is what I get for paying attention.

I think the brambles and raspberries in the old ropeworks site are goign to do badly again this year. They're already very dry. Some of the plums/damsons/whatever are quite happy though so I must make sure to get some this time. Also there are grapes.

My elderflower champagne went fuzzy, so I have to start over. Grah to that, but it was awfully warm in the kitchen. I'll try somewhere else next time.

There are still water drips under the railway bridge, and it hasn't rained for a week. To be fair, only one drip is left and it's much reduced from what it was before, but the temptation to turn up with buckets next time it rains appreciably is quite strong.

Ended up spending some time this evening reading the June issue of New Woman. It's crap. There are loads and loads of contests in it though, and some pretty pictures.

Broke down and bought a £2 paper diary until I can afford to get the Palm m130 fixed or replaced. I really can't be having with not knowing where I need to be and when. My to-do list already fills two pages, and I haven't made really big efforts at replicating the old ones yet. Meep. I'm thinking more and more that I'll save up and get something that has wi-fi, though. It would be incredibly useful. If nothing else, being able to get my online reading done on trains would save huge amounts of time.

Felt like running a bit today, but am leaving it for tomorrow evening. I don't know if I'll have the energy after teaching all day; it will be interesting to find out. I've realised that if I don't want to end up running on Monday evenings and Thursday evenings I'm going to have to break my every-other-day-alternating-mornings-and-evenings pattern. So I have this in mind:

Week 1: Monday morning, Wednesday evening, Friday morning
Week 2: Sunday evening, Tuesday morning, Wednesday evening, Friday morning.

So in week 2 I'd be running every 36 hours instead of every 48, but I'd have the whole weekend off. And avoid running on evenings when I have Aikido, which simply isn't going to work very well. And there would always be sleep (important for regenerative processes, or so I understand) between one lot of running and the next. I'm still not getting a lot of muscle stiffness or soreness, and I put it down to all the walking. Walking is good.

Time for my ewty sleep.
