Jul. 26th, 2006 08:47 pmHey, sci-fi people, please go fill out this survey. Please. It's for a very lovely lady I met on Tuesday night. All the really cool kids are doing it.
I overslept today, but got some more academic work done, which is good. And I bought this toy with munny left in my paypal account after selling boots. This is a thing which should work with my PDA to give me access to wireless networks. Which would be good, because I spend a lot of time in various bits of London with no intarweb, and would save a lot of time and faff having access in more places.
This evening I will be putting a dress on eBay and adding pictures to this auction.
At some point
yady and
koresh are coming back. Not sure when. Confused.
Still no sign of my horn mute, which is annoying to the tune of about £70. Fucksticks. Not sure what to do about this; ideally I'd borrow one for Dartington since no way can I afford one before then, but horn players seem to have gone away to their famn damilies for the summer. Sigh.
I started a packing list for my time away today. Originally I was thinking I might take the drop spindle and some roving along with me and do some spinning of an evening now and then, but on reflection I think I must have been on crack when I thought that. There is no way I have room. I'll have all my Aikido stuff, plus lots of music stuff, plus clothes etc. for two weeks. So the drop spindle probably stays behind, which is a shame. I might change my mind after I've packed my other things. I still wish for a truly versatile pair of shoes; instead I'll be taking very ugly shoes that make my back not hurt, trainers for running, sandals for the days when it's just way too hot for anything else, and smart shoes for performance. A pair of smart sandals that make my back not hurt would get that down to two pairs of shoes instead of four. Le sigh. And my feet aren't small, and neither am I, so two weeks of stuff for me will take up more space than two weeks of stuff for a short person. I'll probably end up making sure all the for-hot-weather stuff can be hand-washed and dry in a day or so and do a lot of hand-washing while I am away, but then I'm kindof stuck if it's cold the entire time. Packing has too many decisions in it. I want a Tardis.
I will probably take part in the Haver Hill Sinfonia Soloist Competition. But to do this, I'll need to do some recording immediately upon my return from Dartington. I'll be back by 16th August; can any of you help, or tell me who to ask for help?
Today I typed and printed out some poems I'd like to set to music. There are more of the sad/disturbing ones there than happy ones, and part of me worries about coming across as a depressing goff or something... but I'm sure there will be times when I tend toward the happy or even the silly.
I ought to find some composition competitions. Next time I'm at Trinity (tomorrow afternoon, like as not) I'll have to see what the composition department noticeboard says. I'm not a composition student at Trinity but that shouldn't actually bar me from composing some stuff.

Date: 2006-07-26 08:16 pm (UTC)I'm leaving on Saturday; do you think it will arrive by then? If you send it by whatever fast post there is, I'd be happy to pay for the postage. Do you want any money for the mute itself, or do you want it back when I've finished borrowing it?

Date: 2006-07-26 08:23 pm (UTC)Consider it a long-term loan for now - I have no idea if or when I'm next likely to play, so you might as well hang on to it indefinitely. :)

Date: 2006-07-26 08:30 pm (UTC)I very likely have houseguests around on Friday morning who could stay in and wait for it while I'm out busking, but even if I don't, missing one busking pitch to wait for it is going to be cheaper than going out and buying a new one.

Date: 2006-07-27 02:22 am (UTC)Due to my inability to continue to give money to a company, Six Apart/Live Journal, who harassed women for having breast-feeding images as their default icons (tiny images that didn’t show anything) and then allowed a very offensive default image of a black man and the words “You Gonna Get RAPED!” as a default icon, despite many complaints, I’ve pulled my blog.
It’s a matter of principle. they are not getting my money.
I have a new blog You can find it here.

I’m going to be reading my friends blogs through bloglines http://www.bloglines.com/
A few folks asked about how to make an LJ book, you can do it here www.ljbook.com
I’m not forgetting my friends, I just felt that I needed to take a stand.
