Cycled into Burnham yesterday, acquired lunch and a bicycle seat that is much wider and doesn't hurt. It isn't perfect but it's an awful lot easier to ride than the other one was. Would still like taller handlebars... and really I'd like the seat to be further back in relation to the pedals, I guess the handlebars would have to come forward for that too which could get odd. But it's better. And anyway it's a rental bicycle so there's a limit to how much I can randomly change.

Am now thinking the trick with getting proper bicycle sorted in London is actually going to be getting a half-decent frame and then adding all the bits I want to make it comfortable (handlebar extension etc). Recumbent bikes seem neat, but ever-so-expensive. Of course, I still have the "can-I-be-bothered-dragging-the-thing-through-the-kitchen?" problem. What I want is a semi-recumbent non-rickety folding bicycle with 30" wheels and enough space between the seat and pedals that I can get a decent leg extension. I suspect such a beast doesn't exist, unless I build it/have it built for me. Not an option at this point, folks. And I couldn't justify it given the amount of cycling I currently do, although of course part of the reason I don't cycle at the moment is my bicycle is heavy and unwieldy and... oh, never mind.

Was attacked by the cuteness of a Golden Retriever puppy earlier. Dogs are strange. And silly.

Yummmy ripe yellow plums! Yummmy.

Now we are going to walk to Birtle for dinner. Because, um, it's a nice evening for it.

This being on holiday lark is great.
