Just fell down the loft steps. It is slippery and the socks are also slippery.
To my credit, myback and neck are okay, and I didn't hit my head at all. And my leg has stopped hurting already and my shoulder was very tense but a bit better now, anf will continue with chamomile tea, which my housemate kindly made. He also hrlped with the sling and fetched my phone and other useful things, and it is a lot less scary being injured when someone else is around.
But my right arm is very painful. I've got it in a sling with some ice packs for now. Lifting and grasping stuff is possible but very painful; typing hurts terribly so I'm LH only for now, hence the errors. My fingers are slightly swollen and rathre tingly. Everuthing seems to move in all the directions it should, though.
I'm going to have some very pretty bruising!

Date: 2006-09-27 01:07 pm (UTC)Those loft steps are nasty. They're even slightly tilted to make it even more likely that you'll fall.

Date: 2006-09-27 01:52 pm (UTC)Compression bandages and/or ibuprofen might be worth considering a bit later on (if you haven't already), if it continues to be very painful.
An email to the landlady mentioning it might be an idea (not sure there's much that can be done to fix it, but maybe she ought to be aware of it)
Yay for your wonderful housemate!:-)

Date: 2006-09-27 05:59 pm (UTC)And I'll have to be very careful at Aikido tomorrow evening. But I think without the Aikido I have done, I may well have hurt myself far more badly than I did. A bruised elbow and thigh isn't bad going for falling down nearly an entire flight of stairs.

Date: 2006-09-27 05:48 pm (UTC)If it gets worse or if it's still very bad tomorrow I will probably go along to a walk-in centre, but as I'm pretty sure it isn't broken I don't much see the point of several hours waiting to be told to keep it in a sling some of the time and use rest, ice, compression and elevation.
