Tired.

Had a student yesterday who was SO hyper and wired. I'm not really sure what to do about it. She is normally a bit silly, but it isn't usually a problem, but this week and last week she was being so silly it was actually quite disruptive to the lesson. I just sat there calmly and repeated what I was saying when I thought she might be calm enough to take it in. She is quite a nice kid but she is not going to learn anything if she continues to behave this way at lessons. At what point do I speak to her mother (who is in the next room for all the lessons anyway and should theoretically hear everything that is going on) about this?

I managed to sleep in until 7am today and feel much better for it. I still want to get an early night tonight though; tomorrow is another meeting with the landlord, then a trip to IKEA, then cleaning out the garage with [livejournal.com profile] leunnammi. After today (work all day and then Cub Scouts) I will likely be quite tired.

Just got a phonecall to go to a job interview - NOW - eep! Wish me luck!

*luck*

How old is the student? It might be worth sitting down with her before the start of the next lesson and explaining that her being silly and hyperactive is disrupting things, and wasting both your time and hers. Ask her to try to keep focused. I'm not sure that this will work if she's younger than eleven or twelve, and if it doesn't you *do* need to take it up with her parents, I think. The longer it goes on for the harder a habit it will be for her to break, and there might be reasons for her hyperactivity and giddiness that they can tell you.
