Jan. 31st, 2007 10:26 amPembury last night was nice.
Have put apple cider vinegar on my scalp again to deal with the itchiness as it offers much more relief than the shampoo. Stings when it first goes on but never mind.
Today: brainhacker, osteopath, sci-fi reading (maybe - might retreat to
pfy's place for the evening instead).
After the brainhacker I must check whether Marine Ices has re-opened, or when they are expecting to; I know they were planning to be closed in January for refurbishment. I miss decent pasta, although other places I have been have been okay.
Here we go again with the V-day stuff. I wish they'd put the date in the sensible format, though. And then there is
140207 as well which complicates things, although it appears to have been forgotten.

Date: 2007-01-31 11:27 am (UTC)Yeah, I sort of agree. Stuff like that has too much Drama potential for my liking. I know it's all (usually) meant as a bit of fun and depriving people of fun = bad, but I feel very uneasy that someone would rather write a message to me on a LiveJournal community I'll probably never read, where the whole world can see it, rather than just coming and talking to me.

How would you feel if someone wrote you a letter and then didn't send it? Do you have any way of knowing that isn't happening?
That's different (in my head at least) in that if someone writes a letter they're not going to send it's not on the internet for all to see if they choose to look for it. I've, on occasion, written letters I've had no intention of actually sending, but I wouldn't put them online somewhere the whole world could read (the ones I can remember I've not put online at all).
I can't control what people might say in relation to me in contexts where I won't ever find out about it.
This is true - my problem with valentines messages in an online community like LiveJournal is that (a) the other person might be expecting me to find it (in a way they wouldn't with a letter they'd written and kept in their own home), (b) my friends might see it (again something that wouldn't happen with a paper letter), (c) it's a context where I may well, but also may well not find out about it - if I do find out about it it'll be by chance not design. I get feelings of 'people talking about me behind my back' that I don't like. Intellectually I'm sure people do do this and it's not something I've any right to complain about, I just don't want to find out about it when it happens.

Date: 2007-01-31 11:52 pm (UTC)2007-02-14 is the logical order because it is exactly like the time: 11:48:09, hours minutes and seconds. The most significant number is on the left. In fact this is the same as numbers generally! It actually seems perverse to order things the opposite way round.
It also sorts!
