I seem to recall that LJ has TOS prohibiting commercial use. I'd doubt it would matter if it's occasional and to friends, but if it looks like you're running a shop from your account you might get problems.
"Commercial activity in your journal ... is acceptable. ... Accounts created solely for commercial activity are permissible ... If you have goods or services to advertise, you may post entries about them in your journal. ..."
You didn't have enough options for the cut! I don't mind a photo and a paragraph of text, mostly because I use image place holders on my friends page anyway (and I can strongly recommend it!)
If you are going to use lj-cut then leave enough of a description in the title and the lj-cut text="..." to know whether I want to read more, or not. Just saying "Stuff to sell" isn't going to get people excited about handing over their money.
Personally my objections to people selling stuff on LJ is dependant on how they phrase the post.
Acceptable: "Hey guys, I've just finished X and it's for sale (insert pictures and details). I'll put it up on site Y next week, but I thought I'd offer it to you lot first. I'd like to get Z for it."
Not acceptable: "Waaaah! I've been trying to sell X for ages, and it's really important that I sell it so one of you should do me a favour and buy it. After all, that's what friends do! I neeeeeeeed the money!"
