water

There appears to be water at work (in Colindale, which is NW9 instead of NW4), and lots of it. Yay! Traffic looked absolutely dire; I'm glad I walk.

I bought two litres of water in the litte shop by work anyway; I'll probably finish them this morning, but I'll refill them before going to Yakar this afternoon. Maybe buy two more litres from the little shop on the way as well, because I think there may be more people at Yakar this afternoon than just me, and I'm not sure what 'alternate supplies' are going to mean. Water bottles? A tap at the end of the road? It could all get quite interesting... I'm not hugely worried now that I know I can get water at work though.

I still consider it criminal that we use drinking water to flush toilets.

You could look into the cost of getting a rain water tank installed at Hendon (and that roof would be perfect for solar panels). I don't know if Rafael would be willing to pay for a tank though, although you can get a government grant for solar heating.

I was very impressed when we watched the poo program to find out that the water board extricate foreign materials like plastic bags to make land fill, exrecement is sold for fertiliser and the gas is used for power. What's left is easily treated to turn back into tap water. Hope that makes you feel a bit better about using tap water to flush with :-)

Have you heard about composting toilets? My fiance and I are absolutely fascinated by them and wish more people considered them a good investment.

Yes, I've heard about them, but I cannot currently afford to get out of rented accomodation, let alone buy a place of my own where I could have such a contraption.

Thanks though:)
