I think I'm going to wear earplugs on the train. Yes, I'll look silly. Yes, it will be worth it. My ears are quite tired now and I'm pretty sure it is NOT from playing for 4 hours but from being on the Tube for 2.
I need a thermos; spending actual money on crap oily hot chocolate is just not on. However, I vow to only use this thermos for hot water. No soup, no macaroni and cheese, no hot chocolate, no tea. Then it won't get mouldy, and the world will be a Better Place. (I'll carry a mug to drink the packet soup and hot chocolate from - mugs are much easier to wash).
St. James' park was nice, if a bit rainy. I did not see any leaf-sucker-uppers today. I did see a marching band with red coats and great bearskin hats; I also saw a bunch of men on nice horsies. They (the men) were wearing rather a lot of metal and jingled a lot.
I have one and a half fishnet stockings finished. Hopefully by the end of the week I will be able to wear them.
Phoned landlord about boiler pump (again); he doesn't know yet when it will be fixed but I'll be speaking to him about it again this evening.
Must remember cheques from two of my students today. Perhaps Wednesday is banking day, since on Wednesdays I go past the bank, just before it closes, on my way to a student.
Got myself a photocard (finally) so I can get a 7-day travelcard instead of this silly business of buying a day travelcard every day. This will save me about £12.40/week, which is good.
Should bring laundry in before it gets further rained upon.

Date: 2003-10-07 01:03 pm (UTC)Step two: forget to eat soup.
Step three: be too tired when you get home to empty and clean thermos.
Step four: forget about thermos for, oh, 3 or 4 weeks. This is easy to do because they are sealed so well that you do not smell them going off the way you would with other things. If you usually clean your thermos out, then you even have lots of repetitive memories of having cleaned a thermos, so can easily fool yourself into thinking it has actually been done.
It would be okay but the smell never comes out of the rubber bits.

Date: 2003-10-07 01:52 pm (UTC)Hm. I cleaned out my *really* dirty and messed up stainless steel thermos before going to poland (before forgetting it. My dad then forgot it when he joined me there. Figures... :P) It wasn't very hard to clean - I just used copious amounts of kitchen surface cleaner, left it for a while, then got busy with a brush. Worked a treat :)

Date: 2003-10-07 01:58 pm (UTC)Need photocard for weekly travelcard, not for day ones. Haven't needed them for day ones since the first time I ever got one (which was 1999). Is annoying though; have Young Person's Railcard which is photo ID. Have Busking License which is photo ID. Cannot use either of these as photocard. Have to carry around another bit of card, Grah.
oops gah
Date: 2003-10-07 02:29 pm (UTC)As for the travelcard, having just checked the tfl website, my mistake sorry. You don't need a photocard for weekly travel cards in zones 1, 2 or 1 and 2. Otherwise you need one :/
