Comments and questions welcome, as always. I think I might buy one of those IKEA stools (like the one I am using in the picture), but instead of putting the top seat part on it I might just attach a display head. I don't like the way the seat of the stool is wider than the way the hair would naturally fall, but it's the best thing I've got around to use - tables, desks, and other chairs just seem to be worse. What do you lot use for display purposes?

But is it? What about shoulders?

Shoulders are not circular like the top of the stool is. Hair tends to fall in front of or behind shoulders, and it can't really do that with the round stool.

That sounds like a good idea, the stool-without-top.

Meanwhile I'm swooning over these and running my hand through my hair that (apart from the right-hand side of my fringe) is about 5cm long. And that's 5wks growth. Damn fast growing hair. (Fringe, btw is almost to my shoulder.)

The bubble-wrap length ones are probably what I'd go for, if I ever did. Methinks I should grab you at some point and force you to explain how one would go about attaching lengths of *stuff* to short hair such as mine. If you can convince me... we'll see from there.

We'll ignore the whole having-nowhere-to-wear-them detail too, shall we?

Lots of sleeper clips with stuff attached to them.

Which has the distinct advantage, of course, of being very customisable. It does tend to require hairspray to make it stay in though, particularly if your hair is very fine.

Another option would be a full wig. I'm not sure how I'd manage that with bubble wrap; I haven't worked with wigs much. Also a full wig can get very heavy if there is a lot of plastic involved so you ahve to be careful with things like neckstrain.

I do like the bubble wrap ones. If I was into the whole cyber/pure industrial thing I'd definitely want them.

What about attaching the head to a camera tripod? Might be cheaper than a stool and has that whole silver-black industrial look...
