I may have complained on here before about our neighbours, who have access to our flat through a fire door which should technically be locked but the crap adminstration don't seem to have a working key. A few times a week they come in, make noise, make a bit of a mess, and leave again. This bothers other people more than it bothers me, for the most part, but it's not something I'm happy about and I have complained to the administration several times now in an attempt to gain some semblance of sanity.
Last night said neighbours came in and decided to empty a fire extinguisher in our kitchen. This finally calmed down at 1 or 2am. At just past 3am some dolt pulled a fire alarm. I had to be up at 6 toget ready to teach wash the bicarb off my dishes and get ready to teach. I left just past 7am and taught and busked and taught again all day and only got in at 19.30-ish. This is what Sundays are like for me, exhausting at best, but I normally do them on more than 2.5 hours of sleep.
We'll be going to Student Services at the college tomorrow (AGAIN) to complain about this. Last time someone did this the neighbours in question got a stern talking to, but I'm afraid that isn't going to suffice this time. I'm not going to back down until they've done something about the door or removed the offending neighbours or both. This is my HOME and I don't particularly appreciate having my kitchen vandalised. If they were going to vandalise the kitchen couldn't they at least do some interesting stencil-graffiti or something? But no, as
pfy rightly mentioned, when they were that drunk, emptying a fire extinguisher was probably the most meaningful form of self-expression they could think of. Anyway what I think would be ideal is if the fire door were locked with one of those little key-in-a-glass-box things - then every time they trespass they can be fined for the nuisance value, and it will be obvious it was them because the key-ina-box on our side will be intact. Second to that would be an alarm on the door when it opens. Really nice would be permission for gratuitous violence, but... well, no, I don't think I'd enjoy that as much as I currently think I would, and it wouldn't really be a long-term solution.
Thankfully my students today were all angels.
