After all that, it looks like I have enough bottles for the first batch of elderflower champagne on my own. I am limited by pan size to doing four litres at a time, you see. I still want bottles, because I want to make more than one batch (especially since last year's success may have been pure fluke!), and I know [livejournal.com profile] pfy is looking to make some as well and any bottles I don't use he would be grateful to have.

I want a huge fuckoff preserving pan. Le sigh. With a lid. And muscles strong enough to carry it when it's full. Yeah.

My head is still a bit hurty today but the headache went away for a while yesterday, and I'm pretty sure this morning it is just plain old dehydration.

Warm enough to wear shorts today. Woot! And I even de-haired my legs the other day, so it's warm enough to wear shorts AND I can wear them without feeling self-conscious or being laughed at. Except by the more sensible people who don't bother. I'm still not a proper hippie.

The chamomile is doing really well this year. I should collect the flowers and dry them so I have chamomile tea. Or maybe put some in vodka so I have tincture, which is sometimes extremely useful (ie when the cramps are so bad that making a cup of tea and waiting for it to cool enough to drink seems like too much trouble).

Four flowers on the strawberry plant now. Still only the one plant making flowers. I guess these will do better next year after they've had a chance to establish themselves, too.
Elderflower fritters are yum.
ewt: (mercury)
Okay, so I don't really have any muscle soreness at all after running yesterday. Clearly walking lots afterward was a Good Thing.

The icon is of mercury, yes, and yes, you could find that out a number of ways. Only one of you got the significance of using mercury as an icon on a post about running, though. Geek points go to [livejournal.com profile] pfy. Interestingly, all the non-astronomical answers involved food.

I go make cheesecake now.
Cheesecake is in the oven, elderflower champagne is sitting (it needs to do this for a day or two before I can do anything else with it), [livejournal.com profile] pfy and [livejournal.com profile] hairyears are both on their way here, and I'm about to do some practising. Life is good.

I wonder which of them I can convince to do the washing up? Probably pushing my luck there actually, but it's worth a try...

Sometime soon I need to re-pink my hair.
