After all that, it looks like I have enough bottles for the first batch of elderflower champagne on my own. I am limited by pan size to doing four litres at a time, you see. I still want bottles, because I want to make more than one batch (especially since last year's success may have been pure fluke!), and I know [livejournal.com profile] pfy is looking to make some as well and any bottles I don't use he would be grateful to have.

I want a huge fuckoff preserving pan. Le sigh. With a lid. And muscles strong enough to carry it when it's full. Yeah.

My head is still a bit hurty today but the headache went away for a while yesterday, and I'm pretty sure this morning it is just plain old dehydration.

Warm enough to wear shorts today. Woot! And I even de-haired my legs the other day, so it's warm enough to wear shorts AND I can wear them without feeling self-conscious or being laughed at. Except by the more sensible people who don't bother. I'm still not a proper hippie.

To do:
-add sugar to boiling water
-hang out laundry (it's sunny! hooray!)

-put another batch in the washer and hang it out too?
-get clean
-go for a walk and gather elderflowers
-clean the elderflowers whilst waiting for the hot sugary water to cool
-put elderflowers, lemons, into water.

-make cheesecake; while it is baking, practise
-alll the washing up
-some gardening while it's sunny. Remove the baking cat shit (why is it only the random stray who never comes to see us that shits in the garden, while the cats who visit are more polite?). More weeding, another clipping of the lawn, further organisation of the veg patch, put together another trellis...

At some point in there I need to have lunch, and supper. I'm not going to want to do much more cooking than I already am. Today is a day for veggiedogs and beans.

The chamomile is doing really well this year. I should collect the flowers and dry them so I have chamomile tea. Or maybe put some in vodka so I have tincture, which is sometimes extremely useful (ie when the cramps are so bad that making a cup of tea and waiting for it to cool enough to drink seems like too much trouble).

Four flowers on the strawberry plant now. Still only the one plant making flowers. I guess these will do better next year after they've had a chance to establish themselves, too.

Hurray! A post from somebody, anywhere in the world, ever, that mentions women wearing shorts without unthinkingly advertising Gillette!

Sadly she's also saying she de-haired the other day.

That doesn't piss me off; it's people who say "It's summer, so of course I have to shave my legs" without even questioning why they're doing it that piss me off.

sounds so nice that you have herbs growing. I always mean to get to planting a garden. I probably will next summer. Hopefully I'll have most of the other mess wrangled in and around the house by then.

I'll have to check out elderflowers. Don't know what they are or what can be made from them. Wikipedia and Google image search, here I come! :)
