Christmas came early...

It is black.
I need to find a badge or two to sew onto it, to distinguish it from all the other random black cases.
The possibilities for adaptation (adding extra padding etc) are very good, it fits more of my stuff in it than my old case, and the load distribution is much better (though still iffy for a backpack, but if I want better in something I buy new I'm looking at a custom-designed case; at least this one will be a lot easier to customize myself than anything I've had before).

hairyears. Um. Sorry. But. Loads of you have been excellent with helping me move and stuff, and I don't really need more things, especially non-practical ones.
