ORANGE

Orange have a student offer on which suits me. In addition to a standard minutes plan I would get 1000 text messages/month, and 50% off the price of any phonecalls outside my allocated minutes. Also, if I take my old phone in I get £100 credit right away (sorry, [livejournal.com profile] pfy, but if my phone is suddenly worth £100 I'm not giving it to you...), which is neat.

What are Orange like as a mobile provider? How's reception, network downtime, stuff like that? Tell me the good stuff. Tell me the bad stuff.

I need to decide soon - the offer is only open until Friday.

I'm with pay-as-you-go Orange, and have had no problems so far. In terms of coverage, it seems to be OK (although that's only based on where I've been with me phone and I've very urban). Can't remember any downtime, it does seem to have occasional attacks of "A text message? What do I do with that? ... (wait)... ...(wait)... oh, I send it!" but I think all networks have that every now and again.

They seem fine except their reception tower that covers high barnet seems to fall over(not literally) and dies when it rains too hard (yes, really). It was fine in Finchley etc just right where I happen to live. For over a day.

Paul's on PAYG with them. Haven't heard him ranting about them ever, but then again, he hardly uses his phone. I do phone him a lot though and generally if I can't get him it's not Orange's fault. Also, you get 2-for-1 cinema tickets on Wednesdays. Which is great.

For me, orange generally seems to have the best reception out of the phones I have (which covers T-mobile, Vodaphone, Orange and O2), but they all have moments of flakeyness.

I have too many phones, but it really is cheaper this way...

Heh, I only have 3 anymore (well, 3 working ones - two more that would wrk if I put in a sim card). But I don't actuallly use more than one normally. They are all on different networks, including Orange - but I doubt information on the Dutch Orange network is of any use to Ewt?

I'm with Orange - PAYG. It's been fine (though I've never used any other mobile provider so I've not really got anything to compare it with). Reception is fine in London, and indeed here in Bury, but it's not so good where my Mum is.

Sounds like a pretty good deal:)

Been on Orange contract for 5-6 years. No problems at all.

I'm on Orange contract. Reception generally good, very, very little downtime (2 instances in 3 years, that I've noticed).

The only actual problem I've ever had with them is third party companies (that they work with) trying to sell me a new contract, pretending it's an upgrade. And they handled my complaints pretty decently.

I had that with Vodafone recently, so it's not at all unique to Orange.

I've been on Orange PAYG for the last five or six years, and they've been fine. The only times I've had significant outages were when I was standing in a field with 50000 other people all texting one another to say "HELLO WHERE ARE YOU I AM AT THE SOUND STAGE" etc.
