ali_anarres came over last night and helped me do some tidying. Two sizeable boxes are empty/trash. I feel good about this progress.

Went for a walk with mstevens, my housemate, this morning. I like walking in the mornings. We went to Mudchute Park, although technically I think the bits we were in are Millwall Park. Something pretty - a map of the Isle of Dogs from 1899. Anyway, the walk. Couldn't find the chives - I think they've mown them down. Also there is quite a bit of fennel growing outside the fenced-off bit where it thrives, and I think they might be planning to lawnmower that soon. I just might have to pick as much of it as I can and have fennel pesto for lunch. I have some pine nuts in the freezer...

Which reminds me, I still want to build an aeolian harp sometime, perhaps something along these lines although window harps are also neat (and since I have sash windows, possibly more appropriate - but you can bet I won't be paying USD $400 for one!).

Today is a busy day. Once the rush-hour has passed, I'm off to the wilds of Southwark to return some music at Paxman, hopefully replacing it with what I actually wanted. And whilst I'm there I'll pick up another ancient, possibly-dead laptop. Back home to do academic work then, in earnest, which means I need to do Serious Tidying in the living room before I leave. I'll have a quick break for lunch and keep on working; then it's off to teaching, meeting ksta to give her some music, getting some supper down me gob and going to Aikido. And I need to do some laundry at some point, because I'm seriously behind. Again, or still, or something.

Given that I'm still hungry and it's already past nine I guess I'd best grab and egg or something and then get a start on the tidying. And pack all my various bags for bits of today...

The power source does indeed look really nifty. As far as I can tell from the article, it's just a parallel-processing implementation of an old technique - though the only times I've seen thermocouples used for power generation before, it's been much larger deep-sea installations.
