I am enjoying the little Indian Summer we're having here, but I am sweating quite a bit in it. I think it must be the medication I'm on; I have never sweated this much in comparable heat other summers. Oh well.

Went for a walk this evening, and discovered the quiet cul-de-sac area of the Isle of Dogs. Children playing nicely in the road, neighbours talking, not so much traffic noise. The houses look to be mostly like the ones on our road, two-bedroom docker's cottages, terraced, but I think there are more extensions. There are also some very wonderful gardens - not so bleak as here. I saw one with gigantic sunflowers, maybe twice as tall as I am with heads well over 40cm in diameter. I don't know if they'd do that in my garden if I started them early enough in the season - it might be too windy just here - but I think I might have a go. I think I need to stop just planting things willy-nilly and do the whole drawing up a plan thing, especially now that I have any space in the back garden. And I need to sort out a proper compost bin; the one I'm using is okay, but the wrong shape for efficient composting, and taking up rather more space than it would if it were the right shape.

mirrorshard has donated to my office one kneeler chair. Yay! I need to take it upstairs and put it back together.

Flickr has started becoming very nasty to anyone with a small business. There's a difference between obnoxious spam, and leaving a link in your profile for people who are interested in what you do, and my understanding is that they no longer recognise that difference. I haven't used Flickr myself, as I simply do not take many photos, and I'm not really sure what alternatives exist; perhaps some of you have something to suggest, though.

I will not be using Flickr in future. I know how hard it can be to sell handmade stuff, especially niche market stuff, and I'm really not interested in supporting a site that has just shat on so many small businesses.
