Jun. 1st, 2003 09:24 pmTried to put the piano in my room, at about 7.15
At about 7.25 we had it most of the way around the corner and
leunnammi was stuck in my room. As the piano does not have a giant hinge in the middle, and the hallway is too narrow, and we did not have a piano trolley, that was as far as we got. We tried from the other direction, but it was no use. So, the piano is back in its original location, and I have wet slippers from rushing off to Yakar to do the door.
Steve (does handiwork and stagecraft at Yakar; came and had a look at our fence; used to have a job as a piano mover, but didn't tell me this until tonight) has had a look and says he will make a piano trolley and see if we can do it that way. The piano is 59 inches long, but only 49 inches tall, so if we turn it onto its side on the trolley it may yet be possible to make this work. We were very nearly around the bend (anyone who tries to move a piano is around the bend if you ask me) and I think that the extra ten inches really might make the difference.
If not, the piano will have to trade places with the sofa, and I'll have to teach on the keyboard if other people are home. I cannot leave it where it is and have the radiator in my room on in the winter, and I can't afford to have the window in my room knocked out to get the piano in there for a year.
Dad, do I have to take the action out if I am turning the piano on its side?
