Okay. So. If I'm going to get the tour sorted out I need the website to be up and running. If I want to get the website up and running I need to write, at the very least, some sort of FAQ.

Dear Lazywebs,

Have a look at the blog, and then ask me questions. Please?

A few off the top of my head, leading questions in typical FAQ style. I can figure out the answers to them all, I think, but they aren't obvious from the blog and writing them up should give you a start on things.

- Horn music is a bit of a niche interest, isn't it? Are there that many horn players and composers looking to share music?

- Do you plan on expanding to other types of music?

- Where did you get the project's name from?

- Do people really make money giving things away?

- Do you (plan to) ship CDs internationally?

- Can I copy and redistribute the music I get from you? What about performance?

There was never any intention to only focus on horn music - just we have to do a launch event to keep Trinity happy, and horn music seemed like a good one because we are both horn players. So, yes, we do plan on expanding to other types of music.

The project's name was thought of, when, well, we were sitting around trying to think of a name. I remembered my dad's old rubber stamp for his Music House company from the early 80s. The company is long-gone but the stamp is still around and we decided to make a name and logo based on that.

Yes, people really make money giving things away. I used to do quite a bit of busking on the Tube, for example - nobody had to give me any money if they did not want to, but I still made enough to make it worth quitting my office job in order to busk more. There are also various online comics supported by reader donations.

For most small bands and new composers, the biggest barrier is publicity, and building up an audience of people who are actually likely to buy their work if they do hear it.

We think that if we can attract and audience which cares about music, they will choose to reward those artists making a genuine, interesting contribution to their genre.

Yes, we do plan to ship CDs and sheet music internationally. The cost of this will be dependent on what the Royal Mail decides to charge us.

Any mp3 or pdf available on the site is availble to download and re-distribute or perform for non-commercial purposes, as long as the original artist is attributed. If you want to use the music commercially you need to check - each track or piece will have a Creative Commons license indication, and some of those let you use the music commercially while others do not. If you're not sure whether your use of the music is okay, you could always contact the artist in question and see what they think!
