More waffling about charms
Feb. 15th, 2007 09:53 amI wonder if it's possible to get a very small clear container as a charm. I have some sand I'd like to put into it; it's significant to me.
Ahah! Found it.
I find myself wondering whether those tritium keychains come in a small enough size for a charm bracelet. Also wondering what is the smallest white-LED flashlight I could get away with. Why yes, I do have eclectic ideas, and this charm bracelet is going to be a triumph of chaos over good taste.
I'm thinking some jeweller's pliers could also be a handy thing to have.
Resting yesterday was definitely the right thing. I feel far less lurgified today. My ears are still full of goo and I'm still a little dizzy and my throat is still a little sore... everything less than yesterday but it feels very much like I'm on the edge of getting worse again if I'm not careful. So, I'll be careful; probably no Ki-Aikido tonight.
So. Sleeping with lower legs supported, such that my thighs are 45° to horizontal and my lower legs are horizontal.... this is achievable by creative use of sofa cushions.
This does appear to be very helpful to my lower back and hips.
A few problems so far. One is that my toes get cold; they get cold at night anyway when they're not higher than the rest of me, so the reduced circulation from elevation makes them even colder. This is not insurmountable, though; I shall make some fleece slipper-sock things for wearing in bed, and keep my toes toasty and warm that way.
Another thing is that in that configuration my legs have a tendency to twist and splay so that my toes point outward. This is not comfortable for my hips. I suspect a solution will be to get a crescent-shaped pillow of some sort to keep my legs from doing that; not an impossible problem to solve.
The really hard thing, though, is sleeping in one position all night. I don't normally do this, even when I'm being hugged by someone I tend to move around. I've been finding I wake up in the wee hours, really wanting to change position. So I do, and change back to sleeping curled up on my side... which the osteopath says isn't good for me. Maybe if I can solve the cold toes and the splaying legs, this will go away, or maybe I'll just get used to it, but instinctively I don't like the idea of sleeping in the same position all night.
So, I'll ask about it at the next appointment. Only thing for it really. Go me and so on.
Plans:
-meet someone for lunch?
-teaching
-making a pair of hairfalls
Tomorrow:
-paperwork chasing, including some filing at home I hope
-making fleece slippers promised to
purpletigron ages ago
-making fleece slippersocks for myself.

Date: 2007-02-15 10:24 am (UTC)I don't like sleeping in one position all night either - I'd tend to think it's not good for the body to spend eight or so hours in one position and I'm used to getting myself back to sleep again by changing position.

Date: 2007-02-15 10:27 am (UTC)This should improve some when I've lost some weight, but in the meantime I need to be enough free of pain that I can exercise effectively...

Please make your own slipper-socks first - my old fleece slippers are just about hanging on for now :-)

Date: 2007-02-15 11:15 am (UTC)I'd be interested in having a look, certainly. Could you bring one roll to the Pembury on Sunday? I'll be there rather late but do want to turn up.
