Another reason I'm unlikely to move to the US anytime soon. This is disgusting. More ranting on the subject available from [livejournal.com profile] naamah_darling.

[livejournal.com profile] hairyears' STRIDA has arrived. He does not, however, own a bicycle pump... *facepalm*

More later. I have a toy to assemble!

What, because they don't think you should crush the skull of a child that's pretty much already been born, or because they rant about what the law is without checking it first?

The Supreme Court has upheld a nationwide ban on partial birth abortion without the usual exception of "to save the life of a woman".

Any physician who, in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce, knowingly performs a partial-birth abortion and thereby kills a human fetus shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both. This subsection does not apply to a partial-birth abortion that is necessary to save the life of a mother whose life is endangered by a physical disorder, physical illness, or physical injury, including a life-endangering physical condition caused by or arising from the pregnancy itself.

I was told that the ruling also stipulated that the parents of an underage girl who had an abortion, or the father of the child regardless of the woman's age, could sue both her and the doctor. For what? I'm hoping it's not true, but I haven't had the chance to look it up yet.

I've never had an abortion, nor do I plan to. However, I support every woman's right to have one and the bizarre anti-abortion mentality here is infuriating.
