400g strawberries just picked from the garden. I'm really glad they are reasonably high up or the slugs would completely decimate them AND I wouldn't be able to reach them.

Total time spent maintaining strawberry plants this year: about 20 minutes
Total money spent on strawberry tub: about £2 for the plants, same again for the soil, and the container is a stainless steel catering urn I scavenged from a rubbish pile.

Ocado has organic strawberries for £1.99 for 300g, and British strawberries for £2.99 for 450g. Both are on special offer; both won't be as tasty as picking them from the garden myself, and unless something goes badly wrong I should have many more strawberries from that patch this summer.

I clearly win.

I win STRAWBERRIES.

The ones you gave me did not survive, sadly. Spider plants still good though. :)

I am glad that although strawberry plants make strawberries, spider plants do not make spiders.

Aw noes :( they were looking a bit dead after carrying them around all day, though.

I think mine are just slow.

Funky!

I haven't done a strawberry patch yet, but I do win at redcurrants and gooseberries :-)

I was going to win at currants but the neighbours killed my plant when they did the new fence.

I was going to win at gooseberries, red ones at that, but I rather suspect that winning at mint has inadvertently overwhelmed the poor thing. Oops.

(Mint was in the garden when I got here, I know better than to plant the stuff!)

Ah, I have a slightly different view on mint: I like to dry it for tea and make apple and mint jelly and things like that. I find it doesn't do well in pots, for reasons so far unclear, and so I've planted some in a corner of the garden that doesn't do a lot else.
When it oversteps the mark I shall simply mow the edges of it in a triumphant fashion as I zoom past with the +6 Flymo of Doom :-)

I have no strawberries. But we did buy a punnet from the market last Sunday. I'd forgotten how good Real, Proper strawberries were.
