Okay, I do have a new housemate. Welcome, [livejournal.com profile] mupstasia, to our household, if such an entity can be called a household.

I cannot begin to express my relief at having found someone sane to stay here. Having all four rooms filled is good... but knowing that we won't be in a position where we might have to take whoever we can get (or at least not until anyone leaves, and they have to give one month's notice!) is really, really cool. I can now stop worrying about that quite so much, and this is indeed a good thing.

Next week will be my last week going into the Yakar office on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Yay! As soon as the rabbi comes back I can discuss my contract with him (thanks to those of you who replied - I still have some fixing to do, will post link to new one probably tomorrow sometime), and hopefully get sorted out on that side of things. In October when my other office job ends I might go back a few mornings a week to help clear up - there is some rather serious clearing up which will have to be done.

Still no word from FAME about my week of paid holiday. I shall have to start phoning them every day, next week. Grah on them. Grah I say!

Anyone have a USB CD-RW they want shot of?

I am trying to get my teaching schedule sorted out and it is proving more difficult than originally planned. My students that I had hoped to teach right before Cub Scouts can't do that day and this is making things odd. Also, NOBODY wants to come to my house. However, I do have interest from new students, and I think it will surpass the ones who drop out, and that is before I have even really done any advertising. I need to put an advert around all the newsagents again this week. I also need to get in touch with the ABRSM and get them to send me examination entry forms, as my lovely local music shop does not want to give me any.

I'm unsure as to whether to take an audio typing job starting in October. I think I might see how things go with busking a lot; I really do need to get my playing hours up again and working an office job AND teaching is really not conducive to this. However, I also need to save up for uni, and I'm not sure that busking will be sufficiently conducive to that. One option, I suppose, would be to pay my teaching cheques straight into the savings account and try to live off of what I make busking. I figure if I do 20 hours of busking/week (4 hours per day, 5 days) then this should be easily do-able.

I need to phone and find out what to do wiht my police reference (yay I get my £10 back!) and find out about the extension of the busking scheme and how to renew my license.

Have been attempting to clean my room. I haven't made a lot of progress just yet but I have come up with a Plan for where things will go after I get my clean clothes put away and the trash taken out to the trash. This is somewhat helpful. I bought some box files to put hairfalls in when they are works-in-progress, I can put some of the materials I'll wnat for them in there as well, so if I want to take them with me somewhere (on the Tube for example) to work on, I can just grab the appropriate box file and some scissors. This should help things a lot. I do still need baskets or something (I think some stacking ones that fit between my shelf and where the chimney sticks into the room, behind the bed) to put yarn in, and to put balls of already-finger-knitted yarn in.

I am tentatively planning to visit Edinburgh around the time of my birthday. Can anyone tell me what the train journey there is like? Would it be better to fly? I'm inclined to go for the train as there is probably one from Euston, which is much easier for me to get to from here than any of the London airports are, and because trains are ecologically more efficient, and also quieter than airplanes, and I would not have to deal with my ears doing that weird thing for 3 or 4 days afterwards, and trains have more space. But I'm saying all this without actually knowing how long the journey is. Coach is not an option, I get too bus-sick and buses are too cramped and I would just really rather not.

I made a doctor's appointment for Thursday 11th September. Have to have some female examination stuff done, and discuss drugs to make my body pretend it has balanced hormones. And possibly why I am always tired, although I greatly suspect that I will be told to sleep more.

It is sunny and clear today, or it was when I looked out the window earlier. Getting a bit cooler now, will have to stop living with the windows constantly open soon. I like dry, crisp autumn weather.

Tomorrow I intend to find that plum tree in Hendon park again and eat some plums. And check on the rosehips and see how they are doing....[livejournal.com profile] arkady, do you think they will be ready yet?

The remainder of today will be spent cleaning my room, knitting, and generally relaxing. Maybe a walk outside later in the afternoon, or a nap in the sunshine in my room.

Other than that life remains fairly quiet.
