I used to do that. Years of wearing glasses that someone else thought suited me. Then I discovered Specsavers. Most (probably all) branches have a digital camera on the wall, which allows you to look at up to 4 pairs of glasses at any one time. And the assistants tend to be perfectly happy to stand there and press buttons because I can't see them. Finally I am wearing glasses that I have chosen :)
