I have some wings. You may have seen this picture of them. They are pretty. They hung on the wall in Hendon. They hung on the wall in Islington. I made them myself and although they're a bit fragile for wearing they do make QUITE the wall decoration...

I have nowhere to put them in student halls in Greenwich.

Would anyone be willing to hang these on their wall for a year (or maybe more don't know where I will be next year eep)? My other alternative is to throw them away, and I really don't want to do that with something I actually did put quite a lot of work and effort into. I am throwing away and selling and getting rid of by various means a LOT of my stuff, but these are special somehow.

You know there's no room on my wall, but DON'T THROW THEM AWAY! They are indeed special :)

What are their dimensions (height by width) I have two pieces of space that *might* be suitable, and are in "not used" (ie safe) areas.

Looking around has reminded me how much junk I need to rid of...

Not sure, but could measure them tonight.

Also they are not flat, it would be height by width by depth. They're kindof funny-shaped.

*nods*

I think depth is going to be much less of an issue for something that will be hung for display though.

Ideally it would be great if you could find some way of putting them up in your room, for special they are and your's too; though I can't quite see how they would go There is blank wall space in your room, so someone might be able to think a solution up. :)

wings!

could squeeze them onto a wall in my place for a bit (not sure if i will still have same place in 12 months time though, so probably can't guarantee to look after them for a whole year)

How do you mean, nowhere to put them? Are you not allowed to put things on the wall?

I have a big stack of picture hooks if you want them.

I am not allowed to put them on the wall. I am not allowed to put anything on the wall, only allowed to put things on the pinboards, neither of which are free of obstructions (one has a shelf too close beside it for me to put the wings there and the other has a desk underneath and shelves on top in such a way that there is not the vertical space).

Not allowed to use picture hooks, nails, bluetac, white-tac, tape, adhesive patches, glue, etc to attach things to the wall. I suppose if I could get the agreement of next door I could build a really big kickass electromagnet and stick things to the wall taht way, but this is unlikely.

This wouldn't be so bad were the pinboards to actually take proper pins, but the only way to get the pins to stay in the boards involves a hammer. Joy.

Don't they even give you a picture rail? Meanies.

Well, ewt, if I were in the UK I'd say they would look rather nifty hanging over our stone fireplace in the living room and would certainly provoke lots of interesting comments from the over 50 crowd. Is there any way in which you can suspend them from curtain rods or whatever window fixtures you might have? lol, ewt's mummy

They are indeed far too gorgeous to throw away. If necessary, I will hang onto them for you (I have spare landlord-approved hooks in my walls).

I had an idea last night regarding more hanging space. I haven't seen your room, so I don't know if it would work. You could get a large sheet of plywood, stabilise the bottom (maybe by nailing it to a bigger block of wood) and put it against the wall. You would then be able to attach things to the plywood rather than directly to the wall. As I say, though, I haven't seen the layout of your room yet, so I don't know if you have suitable walls for that to work.
