Serves me right for my earlier post about the weather, I got rather drenched this morning. The puddles were a third of the way to my knees and there didn't seem to be a good route around them that would be more efficient than just wading, so I waded. Thankfully I was wearing sandals, so it doesn't matter too much; they'll dry soon enough. And it was warm enough I didn't feel particularly cold, and I had an umbrella, so though my ankle-length denim skirt got absolutely drenched (thank you idiot car drivers going faster than you can safely stop anyway!) the rest of me was dry enough to be comfortable.
I find this more amusing than distressing. I'm still quite glad of the rain.
That the puddles got so big so fast does beg the question of why permeable paving is not yet mandatory in cities... especially cities situated on floodplains.
