To clarify: we have no garden, but we do have a balcony which is big enough to grow a fair amount of plants-in-pots[0] (it's 5m by 1.5m) *&* fit our deckchairs on :-) I pay less on the mortgage than P does because he earns more than me - we've been dividing mortgage/rent up according to income since we moved in together 3.5 years ago.
[0] Currently: one blackberry cane, 3 raspberry canes, 2 pots of rocket, 2 sorts of thyme, rosemary, creeping savoury, sage, a small bay tree, mint, potatoes; and I've just planted 2 basils, parsley, coriander, & baby broccolis. More veg to come, although prob not as much as last year as I'm low on pots & don't want to overspend this year as we've spent a *lot* on the house already! Next year I shall get hanging baskets as well.
