Does anyone have a long (long enough to get from the living room to the loft with some slack - probably 20m or 30m would be best) ethernet cable I could borrow or steal or something? This using the computer in the living room all the time thing is getting to be a PITA. Someone said they could give me some but these have not materialised yet and I don't want to be all chasey, I just want to be able to get set up properly. Ideally I need two of these, perhaps three so I have one spare in case things b0rk, but at this point even one would be hugely helpful.

Wireless is another option but at this point requires significantly more yak-shaving than just getting some longer ethernet cables. Maplin want a silly amount of money for either a kit to make my own, or ones that are really stupidly way too long for my needs. I don't know where else to get long ones in London; I'm sure they're around but I don't have time to comb through all the places that might have them.

In other me-nagging-at-you-lot news, [livejournal.com profile] pfy still needs a home. Please to help.

Can do. It's been patched in one place, but works fine. Ethernet cable, that is. We're all hardwired for the long distance runs now.

Might be running into town some time next week with my grandfather. He wants to see the Laurence of Arabia exhibition at the Imperial War Museum. Could drop it to you then? I might be able to find another excuse to come into town though. Not that this isn't, but I hate to only do one thing on a ticket.

Ooh, would be useful, ta. I'm going to be away for part of next week and busy for much of the rest of it, but we might coincide.

Failing that, if you could get the thing to [livejournal.com profile] pfy in Leytonstone, it would be equally useful as he is pretty much guaranteed to see me sometime this week. That isn't so far from you if you fancy going for a long walk or a bike ride, and dropping it through his letterbox might be easier than trying to coordinate with me.

Leytonstone is where my brothers fiancé half lives (the other half being here), so getting over there isn't a trouble.
LJ's not notifying my of comment replys, so drop me a line at apwl23@dsl.pipex.com .
Once I know where I'm going, we can probably just make a pit-stop on this weekends food run.

WIRELESS WIRELESS WIRELESS.

As pointed out above, this requires even more yak-shaving than the option of getting longer cables. I'd have to make the wireless router thing be connected to everything again, and I'd have to borrow my housemate's PCMCIA card to make purr, the laptop, be wireless, and for the desktop I'd have to buy a wireless card of some sort, and make it work. And I don't have any idea whether I'd get reception in the loft anyway.

By the time I've done that I may as well run cables.

Sorry, don't have either cable or house space. :(

Fair enough.

Do you know anyone with a van who could help [livejournal.com profile] pfy move?
