Okay:

LONDON people who are/were interested in one-off or sample lessons in PIANO, VOICE, AURAL SKILLS, THEORY, TRUMPET, or other brass instruments:

If you're free Wednesday, 23rd August through to and including Tuesday, 29th August, let me know. Let me know what you want to study and how much you've studied it before (if you have particularly advanced theory skills I might have to brush up on my own, or I might ask you for a specific thing you want to work on). I have some busking booked for that period but not much. And busking is hard for me right now, and not a guaranteed income source because tourists and commuters are fickle. I charge £25 for an hour and would think that an hour or possibly 45 minutes is appropriate for a lesson for a grown-up. If you live further than an hour's travel away I might ask you to come to me, or work out some sort of extra payment for travel, because a ratio of two hours of travel to one hour of work is actually pretty crappy.

Reply to this comment, or e-mail ewtikins at livejournal.com , which forwards to something useful, if you want to include contact information that isn't visible to all and sundry. I will get back to you probably tomorrow.

(Unfortunately I cannot schedule lessons for during the year until I have my academic schedule, which will not be until after registration on 5th September. Joy.)
(After Tuesday, 29th August, it will be an all-out attempt to finish my academic work. I might have time then, I might not, but I'll work it out then; I don't currently wish to make any other committments for that time period.)

I'd quite like to, but I don't think I count as London people. I'm afraid travel expense wouldn't be worth it...

;)

I don't yet know when I will next be in London, unfortunately. But I would like to take voice lessons, specifically aimed at public speaking but also to improve my lousy singing voice :-) (I'm Grade 8 on flute from my teenage years).

I'm considering a few lessons in voice at present so I'd be interested in a sample session. I next get paid on the 25th, so any time from then on with the exception of the 26th would be fine.

I may actually be up for this a some point if I'm in the right mood.

M'dear, I can't manage your timing but I would quite like to start voice lessons again. I sang for years, but haven't sung a note since about 1994 (long story). Keep me on a list?

(Hmm. On second thoughts. I might be able to manage 29th as a try out. What sort of time and where?)

It would be good to have a sample voice lesson (or two, depending on how available/willing you are). Probably most sensible for me to come to you, because I'll be desperately writing up my own academic work over the next couple of weeks.

29th should be okay for a sample/one-off lesson. I usually go to Borders in the evening but daytime would be fine. I'm in Zone 2, right near Island Gardens DLR, or I could come to you if it's not too far.

How would Thursday afternoon be for you?

Monday 28th okay? Morning or afternoon?

I have to give out GCSE results in the morning, probably finishing around 3. Could be with you around 4, if that's of any use?

Sorry, that was me. :)

16.00 on Thursday 24th of August would be good; have written it into the diary, let me know if it changes.

Do you know where I live? It's Island Gardens DLR, and then probably easiest to ring me (it's only about 20 seconds away from my house).

What singing have you done in the past? What do you want to sing? How well do you read music? Anything in particular you want to work on?

Yay, I feel efficient! Even if I'm only basking in the reflected glory of your efficiency. :)

I'll ring you from Island Gardens DLR, if that's OK, since my sense of direction is non-existent. If something horrible happens to one of our phones, could you meet me at the station at 4? (Though that shouldn't be necessary.)

I've done mainly choral singing, at school and university and so on, and have had no vocal training. Reading music is easy, sight-singing is harder :) but I'm much better at using the sheet music once I've heard it played/sung once or twice. Mainly I'm interested in getting some ideas about technique, since it's very difficult for me to judge what I sound like. I realise that's a bit waffly, so do ask for more details.

Oops - no real preference about what I want to sing, except nothing too technical. If that makes things difficult, let me know and I'll stop dithering.

That should be fine; afternoons are usually better for me than mornings. :-)

Shall we say 14.30?

(and if I could persuade you to bring a t-shirt and perhaps a pair of boots, that would be great... but if not I'll come and get them another time)

14:30 is fine; I have the t-shirt here, and the boots aren't a problem. :-)

Have just realised Monday is Bank Holiday - would the same on Tuesday work for you?

If not, Monday will be fine.

Tuesday will be fine. I hadn't noticed it will be a Bank Holiday!
