Nov. 16th, 2006 10:15 pmI have found Sulis Silks. They sell, among other things, silk knit underwear (including long johns), and also some outerwear. And long pyjamas. And.. and... silk! And not all of it is too too expensive. I wish it were made for tall people.

Date: 2006-11-17 09:13 am (UTC)I've actually been buying non-black, non-utilitarian underwear recently. Think I'm turning into a girl or something.

Date: 2006-11-17 10:41 am (UTC)Recently I got a silk top by Eddie Bauer (http://www.eddiebauer.com/eb/product.asp?product_id=25244&nv=3|21473|836&lview=&cm_cg=C836&tid=&c=&sc=&lp=v1i001) in a second hand shop for five pounds. It's a medium but fits me perfectly (and isn't patterned, as the 'updated' one is), better than the ones I've had from John Lewis in the past anyway. And I see they do tall sizing... but those only go to 5'11". Bah.
I found Sulis because I was looking for silk fabric to make a concert dress from - something I can crunch up small and it won't get too wrinkly, and will be cool when it's hot and warm when it's cold, and is long enough I don't really have to worry about what to wear on my legs, and has 3/4 length sleeves for ease of playing.
Maybe I should just buy an entire bolt of the stuff and make all my clothes from it forever. Knitted silk is a wonderful fabric to wear, but other than the Sulis site I've not really seen it used regularly in anything other than underwear (and I've never found actual silk knickers except for 'decorative' ones made from georgette silk, although i suppose if I were willing to wear boxers there are enough mens' silk underpants around), and their colour selections are limited.
