I've been fighting a sore throat for a few weeks now. Looking in the mirror, it's still red and raw. I've been coughing, my nose continues to produce nasty stuff, and today my ears feel a bit odd. Earlier this morning I had the old "I am your left cervical lymph node and I am going to give you PAIN" thing. Just as well I'm going to the doctor on Monday, then.
Yesterday my shoulders were really complaining - not sure if this is from carrying picnic stuff (it wasn't THAT heavy but some of it was heavier than I've carried for a while) or from sleeping position stuff or left-over from some of the new exercises I'm doing (which will help in the long run). My right elbow was quite swollen and sore again, too. Bah. It seems better today.
The inflatable stools don't quite work for a leg-rest while I'm sleeping; they aren't wide enough to be really stable. I'm not sure if I can fix this. So, it's back to the search for discarded, un-rained-upon, not-reeking-of-smoke sofa cushions. If you are in the London area and you see any please nab them for me. I'll keep investigating ways to make the inflatables work, though, because having something portable would be a very good thing indeed.
I'm still finding that two-thirds or three-quarters of the way through the night, I get fed up and sleep on my side. I'm wondering whether it would be better to get up and walk around for a while and then go back to bed. I have no idea. Sleeping on my side for any length of time is definitely not good for my shoulders and arms, or for my mid-back.
I'm also finding that when I sit on the ground I automatically sit cross-legged, which is actually bad for my hips. Sitting with legs straight out is also annoying, though, and sitting on my knees squishes my ankles badly and eventually leads to loss of blood flow to feets, very uncomfortable, poor feets! Something like this would solve the problem nicely. Anyone fancy making one out of FSC-certified or reclaimed wood?
As I make more space in the loft I will dig out my exercise ball and start using that as a desk chair, because it worked very well for me before (and the kneeler chair I have is not quite the right size for me, unfortunately).
Haven't tried playing horn this week, which I was meant to do, and I've kindof fallen off the mouthpiece buzzing wagon recently as well. Meep. Not good. I'll try to do some of that this evening.
This afternoon I'm meant to be going for a brief forage with
Tomorrow is teaching, and heading for Tottenham to look after a very sweet cat; I'll be there until 19th March. I don't think I'm going to make it to the games night at the Pembury on Sunday night because by the time I've finished teaching the cat will have been on her own for quite some time, and will be hungry and stuff, poor dear. This is subject to change if I can move lessons around so that I finish earlier in the day and actually have a chance to go home AND to the Pembury (which is really not far from the place I'll be calling 'home' for the next week).
