ominous

My Apple power supply is making a noise. It's one of those 'other people would not notice this unless they put their ear up to the thing' noises that i tend to hear electronics make, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't making this noise before. I think it might be running slightly hotter than usual as well although it's very hard to tell; I could just have cold hands.

Computer does seem to be charging alright.

I'll need a Norf Merkin apple-version-of-figure-of-8 lead to use this thing in North America; anyone have one I can borrow or do I have to go and spend £money on it?

We seem to have a Ninja Plumber. Last week... Monday night, we had a crappy horrible leaky bathroom sink with cracks around the plug. Tuesday night we had a shiny new sink with mixer tap. What happen?

The Ninja Plumber did not see fit to get a model of sink where it's actually easy to get at the lever that makes the plug seal, so it's still a bit meh, but it isn't cracked or leaky anymore.

How does the apple version of the figure-of-8 lead differ?

IIRC it's got another loop on top.

Oh, one of those "cloverleaf" types? Bother, I don't think I have one of those. I'll check my old compaq lappy's supply though, I think it was cloverleaf.

I don't know whether the Apple's use a cloverleaf type, but I do know my Compaq uses one.

Both my Thinkpad and my HP/Compaq laptop use 3-way figure of 8.

If going to a foreign country, why not just take an adapter if the power brick can take the different voltages?

If you can't find an apple lead you could just use a plug adaptor on the other end of the UK lead. Someone down there must have one, if not I have oodles and could drop one in the post.

I just use a plug adaptor every time I go to North America (or in fact anywhere else). These are a lot cheaper than a new cable.

Hi Daughter Dearest,

Is that a three pin connector? If so I have one you can use while in Regina. Love Dad
